Title: Re: Click Clack, I heard what you typed Post by Pete Finnigan on Sep 24th, 2005, 9:49pm Thanks for the link Gary, this is a very interesting peice and makes you wonder what people will think of next. I suppose it is like what the phone phreakers used to do in some senses. So, hypothetically, you could ring sit near a DBA of a system you want to hack and tape his keystrokes or even install a small peice of software that uses the PC microphone?? and work out the SYS password? thanks for the interesting link. cheers Pete |

Title: Re: Click Clack, I heard what you typed Post by Pete Finnigan on Sep 26th, 2005, 8:43am Talking of the PC microphone, there was an amusing 'tech help' question in one of the Australian PC mags recently. A person's PC was being 'haunted', doing things apparently at random. They rules out spyware and viruses, and the other usual suspects. Eventually they found it. Apparently, at some point the 'Voice activated' mode of Windows had been activated. However it had never been 'taught' and learnt to pick up stray noises as PC commands, opening and closing windows etc. |
