More and more people take their own hardware to work (smartphones, tables) and expect them to be able to connect to the network. Also people more and more wil be working in clouds, outside the company. Some companies even advertise that new employees can do this.

An interesting development. Tweakers.net asked security specialists among its readers what they thought about this new challenge. Awareness is very important, they say. Most responders said they would approach the problem with common sense, like encrypting storage with Truecrypt and such.

Does it make any difference to database administrators? As far as I know people brought their own storage to work for many years now and it is often enough to place an export of the database on these devices.

What do the readers on this forum think about "bring your own hardware to work"?
