Hi Pete's,

Firstly, I apologize if I am not supposed to send this post to you via the Forum. I don't know how else to send you an email regarding my question. Not sure if you consider GMail addresses as SPAMs - ???

Anyway, I downloaded and find your Oracle Password Cracker very useful. The question I have is whether it is alright if I try and convert that to a binary, i.e. PLB, type file so it does not appear as plain text to some users? I don't know yet how to do that but I thought I've read it somewhere that PL/SQL scripts can be converted to binary file, will going to post to the FORUM in case someone already know how to .

Hi,

When you say binary and also mention .plb then you must mean wrapped PL/SQL code. This is not secure anyway but why would uyou need to wrap it as the code is avialable from my site anyway?

If you want to place it into a database for testing of passwords then the better approach is to ensure no one can run it (untill all passwords are secure!)

Also the cracker is a standalone PL/SQL SQL*plus script so is intended to be run remotely so that this sort of functionallity is not installed into the database. If you mean testpwd.sql then you need to think carefully about installing it and under which account and also the privileges assigned to it.

Can you tell us what you are planning to do?
